Historic Rooms with Views
The Royal Hotel offers air-conditioned rooms in a 150-year-old colonial-style building. Rooms feature under-floor heating, modern furnishings, plush beds with white linens, and en suite bathrooms with both bath and shower. The King Suite with Mountain View provides panoramic valley views, while Garden Double Rooms overlook the lush gardens. In-room amenities include a safe, free WiFi, and room service. Some rooms have four-poster beds. Note: coffee/tea facilities are not in rooms but available via room service.
Three Restaurants and a Famous Stoep
The hotel has three restaurants: the Royal Restaurant for laid-back fare, the Blue Room for an 8-course fine dining experience, and Kamar Biru for Indonesian cuisine. In-house guests can book the exclusive 7 Course Breakfast Tasting Menu. Daily complimentary scones and tea are served in the afternoon. The colonial bar offers a large selection of gins and cocktails, best enjoyed on the historic front stoep - said to be the longest south of the Limpopo. Breakfast includes eggs benedict, fluffy omelets, and scones.
Pool, Spa and Local Festivals
Guests can swim in the outdoor pool with a terrace offering valley views, and relax in the lush garden. The wellness centre provides massage treatments in the privacy of guest rooms or in a garden gazebo. Nearby activities include cycling, fishing, and hiking. The hotel is a hub for local events like the Riebeek Valley Olive Festival and Medfest.
Heart of Riebeek-Kasteel
The Royal Hotel sits on the main street of Riebeek-Kasteel, surrounded by vineyards and olive farms. It is a short walk to De Oude Kerk Museum and Riebeek Cellars Wine Shop. Cape Town International Airport is 90 km away. The area is known for its wine and olive production, with many local farm stalls and specialty stores.
Attentive Services and Business Facilities
The hotel offers free WiFi, free parking, and 24-hour front desk service. Room service delivers meals and coffee to rooms. Daily housekeeping, laundry, and ironing are available. The property has meeting and banquet facilities suitable for small and large events, with fax/photocopying services. Packed lunches can be arranged for early departures.
“The property harmoniously blends historic architecture with modern comfort, creating a welcoming ambiance. Its prime location in Riebeek-Kasteel, coupled with beautiful mountain and dam views, stands out, as does the consistently helpful and friendly staff. Dinner and breakfast are genuinely well-prepared, making for a well-rounded experience.”
